The barrier islands are found all up and down the coast of Georgia. They could be considered beautiful and wonderful. These barrier islands are named,Tybee Island, St. Catherine’s Island, Ossabaw Island, Sapelo Island, Sea Island, St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, Blackbeard Island, and Cumberland Island .
  • Jekyll Island was originally used as the Jekyll Island club.
  • It is one of only four Great Barrier Islands reachable by car.
  • It has 8 miles of beaches.
  • Pink and white oleanders inhabit Jekyll along with wax myrtles, marsh elders, and sea oxeye.
  • Some species of animals on Jekyll that may be seen are the red tailed hawks and peregrine falcons along with the occasional snakes, deer, and raccoons.
